The academic journal Women’s Studies Quarterly (WSQ) is dedicating a special issue to Indigenous Feminist Pedagogies and invites submissions from Indigenous and First Peoples scholars, as well as accomplices and allies engaged in Indigenous feminisms, feminist rhetorics, and feminist pedagogies.
The call welcomes scholarly and creative contributions that employ decolonial, anti-colonial, Indigenous, and feminist approaches to advance social justice work in teaching and learning. Particular attention is given to pedagogical practices that challenge the colonial structures of academia, Indigenous research methodologies, and teaching approaches that foster inclusion, cultural safety, and respect for communities.
Submissions may take the form of academic articles, memoirs, manifestos, fiction, poetry, or visual arts projects. The special issue is scheduled for publication in Fall 2027.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Deadline: July 31, 2026
Submissions must be sent via WSQ.submittable.com. Scholarly articles require a single anonymized Word file (max 6,000 words) plus a cover page with title, abstract, keywords, and short author bio entered in Submittable. All identifying information must be removed from the manuscript and formatting must follow feministpress.org/submission-guidelines.
Creative works related to the issue theme—including prose (2,000–2,500 words), up to 3 poems, and visual/performative works—are also accepted via the same platform. Previously published works are not allowed; simultaneous submissions are permitted with notification upon acceptance elsewhere. Visual submissions must include captions, an artist statement, and a short bio.
